In the early part of the 20th century, the United States was in the forefront of eugenics research, which included forced sterilizations. A lot of what was used in Germany was thought of here, and in Britain. It is not something to be proud of.
I am beginning to feel our country could very well slip back into a pro-eugenics stage. Though with most abortion clinics located in minority neighborhoods, and something like 50% of black babies dying in the womb, in many ways we are already there.

When Dad told me about this, a few days ago, I was disbelieving. The history of eugenics in the USA is a hideous one that, yes, we should be ashamed of. Alarmingly, as this article pointed out, that kind of thinking is hardly all in the past. Mom
