Rex Murphy on Obama’s war against Christianity: When the Church struck back | Full Comment | National Post

One comment after reading this article. My initial reaction to the “contraception compromise” is that it is an accounting trick, and that the Obama Administration is still at war with the Catholic Church.

He claims that it is the insurance companies that will now have to give women “free contraception”, not the religious employer.

But… have you ever heard the expression, “Corporations never pay tax, they just pass the tax on to the consumer”? That is true, and in this case the Catholic employers, charities, hospitals, etc would still be paying for contraception.

Which is evil. Period.

And that doesn’t even begin to address Catholic INSURANCE companies, such as OSF. It is against the teachings of the Catholic Church to use, or promote, contraception. It is a MORTAL SIN. And now Obama is saying that Catholic insurance companies, like OSF (note, OSF also has hospitals, but I am concentrating on the insurance aspect) must provide something that it considers a mortal sin? And note my position – it is not just considered a mortal sin, it IS a mortal sin, one you must repent of if you wish to avoid hell.

This whole position of the Obama Administration is ridiculous. And it is a violation of the First Amendment of the Constitution. There is no constitutional right to have someone else pay for your contraception, but there IS ONE guaranteeing the freedom of religion.

If you haven’t already written your representative and senators, and the president, please do so. This is an issue Catholics cannot back off on. This decision to force Catholic companies and charities to commit mortal sin cannot stand.

We so agree with you! Spectator.org has a good news article explaining how Obama’s “compromise” is anything but; thankfully the bishops are standing firm!
