Every now and then you find a politician with actual principles.  It sounds like Jo Ann Nardelli one of those politicians.  She refused to join her party in attacking the institution of marriage, and instead resigned from the Democratic Party.

Hats off to you, Mrs. Nardelli.

  1. I ahve always looked with mixed reaction on Pro-life Democrats who felt they could positively influence the party. For one thing, it is an admirable thing to try and do. So, I take them at their word when they say they wish to try and move the party in their direction.

However, I have never understood the rationalizations that necessarily come with that position. Pro_life Democrats continue to work for the election of their Party’s nominees, even when that nominee is at odds with their Pro-Life views. In so doing, they put party over ideology and I have never been able to understand how they can be intellectually honest in doing so.

Perhaps there was a time when there was enough local or state diversity that one could find room in the party to hold those views without compromising on principle. In my view, it has become a near impossibility today to reconcile the two. I suppose Mrs. Nardelli finally reached that point.

Better late than never. Congratulations to her on the bold decision.
