I’ve heard about this New York Times’ “Jesus had a wife” yada yada story enough now I thought I would provide a rebuttal to it. Below is Jimmy Akin tearing the story apart.
Note that you can wait about once every five years to get a “Jesus was married” story. The press has to make sure they get it into young impressionable minds that just might be paying attention to such things for the first time, such as those in high school or shortly thereafter.
I think part of the motivation on the part of the media is to implant an “everybody knows…” type thought. Things like “everybody knows that people only use 5% of their brain”. Or the “everybody knows that the Shroud of Turin is a fake”. That type of thing.
If the story is repeated often enough, then there will be an “everybody knows Jesus was married”. Everybody will know it, even if it is a lie.
Kudos to Jimmy Akin on his article.
