Dec 22 – Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini, Virgin (W), Propers of the Mass – 1962 Missal

Thou hast held me by my right hand, and by Thy will Thou hast conducted me: and with glory hast Thou received me. (Psalm) How good is God to Israel: to them that are of a right heart.  Glory be to the Father.  Thou hast held me by my right hand.

O Lord Jesus Christ, Who hast conducted the holy virgin Frances Xavier, kindled with the flame of Thy Most Sacred Heart, across the world to gain souls to Thee, and founded through her a new family of virgins in Thy Church: grant, we beseech Thee, that, through her intercession, we may be endowed with the virtues of Thy Heart, and may be found worthy to reach the haven of eternal happiness.  Who livest and reignest.

Epistle – I Corinthians 1:26-31

Brethren: See your vocation, that there are not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble: but the foolish things of the world hath God chosen, that He may confound the wise, and the weak things of the world hath God chosen, that He may confound the strong; and the base things of the world, and the things that are contemptible hath God chosen, and things that are not, that He might bring to nought things that are: that no flesh should glory in His sight. But of Him are you in Christ Jesus, Who of God is made unto us wisdom, and justice, and sanctification, and redemption;  that as it is written: “He that glorieth, may glory in the Lord.”

God, Who hath girt me with strength: and made my way blameless.  Who hath made my feet like the feet of harts: and Who setteth me upon high places.

Alleluia, alleluia.  I became all things to all men, that I might save all.  Alleluia.

Gospel Matthew 11:25-30

At that time, Jesus answered, and said: I praise Thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because Thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them to the little ones.

Yea, Father: for so it hath seemed good in Thy sight. All things are delivered to Me by My Father; and no one knoweth the Son, but the Father, neither doth any one know the Father, but the Son, and he to whom it shall please the Son to reveal Him. Come to me, all you that labor, and are burdened, and I will refresh you. Take up My yoke upon you, and learn of Me, because I am meek, and humble of heart: and you shall find rest to your souls: for My yoke is sweet, and My burden light.

But it is good for me to cleave to my God: to put my hope in the Lord God.  That I may declare all Thy praises: in the gates of the daughter of Sion.

Accept, O Lord, the gifts that we bring Thee in honor of the holy Virgin, Frances Xavier, and grant that, made comfortable to the Most Sacred Heart of Thy Son, we may be an acceptable offering to Thee.  Through the same our Lord.

Come to Me, all you that labor and are burdened, and I will refresh you.

Post Communion

O God, Who permits us to draw heavenly gifts from the fullness of the Heart of Thy beloved Son: grant, we beseech Thee, that, following the example of Saint Frances Xavier, we may always strive for the glory of the same Thy Son and attain to the recompense of His kingdom.  Who with Thee liveth and reigneth.
